How can I verify that a user is legit?

We’re constantly thinking of ways to make trading on OLX safer. That's why we've introduced a new service that's free for everyone on OLX.

Once you’ve made contact with a buyer or seller and you’re not 100% sure about their authenticity, you can now send an email to...

verify@olx.co.za

And we’ll run a few checks for you.
 
We advise you to hold off on corresponding and closing the deal with the person until we get back to you with our findings. Better safe than sorry, right?
 

Not sure about a seller? 

If it’s an ad that you saw please include the ad ID (10-digit number) within your email to us. You can find it in the ad's link. The simplest way to get it to us is if you send us a screenshot of the ad on desktop (just make sure to include the URL in the shot) or on the app just below the map when you click on the ad.

Not sure about a buyer?

If it’s an interested buyer contacting you for your item, you can give us their User ID, mobile number or email address if available. And if you're a savvy OLXer who knows the safest way to deal with buyers is in OLX Chat, then send us screenshots too!
